Learning to play the Drums is really exciting. A set of instruments that are fun to learn at any age and ability and at CMS we offer lessons and learning journeys for all. We support all learners with tailored tuition that meet the needs of aspiring beginners onto advanced working professional performers.
We recognise that learning the Drums is enriching, dynamic and hugely rewarding in building and reinforcing confidence and esteem whether it’s for fun, to build on existing experience and performance presence or even career advancement in reading, technical development and stage performance skills.
We are proud to offer Drum tutors to meet all these needs including experience when working with individuals with diverse and specific learning support needs and behavioural diversity.
We are confident of the positive impact that our Drum tutors have on their students learning and their relationship with the instrument in a wider context. They bring a wealth of experience to the table and a willingness to help you learn any style of music you wish.
We understand that students have different reasons for wishing to learn the instrument, and some may not want to be taught in the conventional manner, preferring to learn only by ear. We will accommodate and nurture all learning preferences, including the teaching of improvisational skills.
Lessons are delivered in soundproof and secure environments utilising our standard equipment range of acoustic Drums, Snare Drums and Cymbals and access to Pro Audio PA to enhance the learning experience. Individual tutors may also offer tailored lessons using Electronic Drums and controllers and rudiment studies with Practice Pads.
All lessons are designed to meet the needs of all students and can be combined with specific learning in microphone placement, recording Drums and working towards auditions, sessions and assignments including musical theatre.
For those who wish to take them, exams are offered, from
Pre-Grades, up to Grade 8. We cover most major Exam Boards, and will help you decide whether a live, digital or recorded exam is the best option for you.
Our tutors have access to music support software, Drum-less tracks and music libraries and therefore requests to learn any piece of music can always be accommodated.
